Nitin Kumar joined Penso Advisors in August of 2026. He is a member of the firm’s investment committee and participates in all discussions pertaining to idea generation, trade structuring, and risk allocations.

Nitin is a quantitative finance professional with over 25 years of experience trading cross-asset derivatives across major institutions and hedge funds. Most recently, Nitin spent a decade as Portfolio Manager at Laurion Capital Management, trading directional macro across FX, rates, equities, and commodities — expressing views on monetary and fiscal policy shifts and evolving macro narratives with a particular focus on structuring using vanilla and first-generation exotic derivatives. He began his career at JPMorgan Securities, where he built and grew the firm’s exotic equity derivatives desk in New York before moving to London to head the portfolio management team for long-dated FX and interest rate exotics. He subsequently led electricity direction and volatility trading at Citadel Investment Group and subsequently built a cross-asset macro volatility strategy at Hutchin Hill Capital Management.

Nitin holds a BA with High Honors and a triple major in Economics, Physics, and Computer Science from Wesleyan University where he was awarded one of only three full international scholarships, having previously secured admission to the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur through India’s most competitive entrance examination.
